The United States Coral Reef Task Force (USCRTF) was established in 1998 by Presidential Executive Order 13089 and reauthorized under the James M. Inhofe National Defense Authorization Act in December 2022 to lead U.S. efforts to preserve and protect coral reef ecosystems. The Task Force has been instrumental in building partnerships and strategies for on-the-ground action to conserve coral reefs. It works in cooperation with state, territorial, and local government agencies, nongovernmental organizations, the scientific community, and commercial interests to further the understanding and conservation of coral reef ecosystems.

Membership, as established in 1998, included members of 11 Federal agencies, which has since grown to include 14 Federal agencies, 7 U.S. States, Territories, Commonwealths, 3 Freely Associated States, and 4 Fishery Management Councils.

A large group of people sit or stand around a sign that reads 49th U.S. Coral Reef Task Force Meeting. They are gathered outside on a lawn with palm trees and other tropical vegetation in the background.
